Tasting Notes:

St Hallett Eden Valley Riesling 2019

A Riesling of substance. Full and textured, the palate opens up to layers of flavor; citrus zest with mineral talc and fresh limes. The palate is balanced with a fine steely texture supported by a backbone of crunchy acidity. The finish is long, elegant and complex.

St Hallett Black Clay Barossa Valley Shiraz 2020

The black cracking Biscay clay of the Barossa Valley gives Black Clay shiraz it’s unique berry compote and summer pudding flavours, complemented by luscious velvety tannins.

St Hallett Barossa Rose 2020

A luscious bouquet of fresh strawberries, white stone fruit and summer blossoms. The palate is vibrant and succulent with an abundance of fresh strawberries and cream, rose petal and white peach that fill the senses, while clean cut acidity gives the palate gorgeous length. The finish is fine and elegant with lingering flavours of raspberry and strawberry with a subtle savory hint.
Technical:

St Hallett Eden Valley Riesling 2019

Established in 1944 by the Lindner Family, St Hallett represents the very spirit and soul of winemaking in the Barossa. Over this time, it has grown and changed and reinvented itself, to achieve a rare distinction as one of Australia’s most respected wine brands. For most of that time it was owned, or part owned, by one family, the pioneering Lindners, who arrived in the Barossa from Silesia in 1838. Through grim determination, heartbreak and near financial collapse the Lindner family managed to make a meagre living – initially from ports and sherries and marsala – in their galvo shed in the middle of the Barossa. More than 70 years on from these humble beginnings, St Hallett has established a reputation for making wines with exceptional quality and character.

St Hallett Black Clay Barossa Valley Shiraz 2020

Good winter rains in July and August preceded a warm and dry spring with no frosts or storms. Budburst and shoot growth were strong with average bunch numbers showing across most varieties, followed by ideal weather through flowering which set-up good crop potential. Ripening was very steadily paced throughout which made for an accommodating vintage and the ability to pick everything exactly when we wanted it.  Barossa Valley Shiraz yields were slightly below average, and all the wines show superb colour and richness with abundant aromas and flavours.

St Hallett Barossa Rose 2020

The grapes for this Rose are sourced exclusively from Grenache grown in the Barossa Valley. The Barossa Valley is the ideal home for producing the fresh red fruit characters that make Grenache a standout variety for delicious Rose. The St Hallett winemaking philosophy is simple - minimum intervention and maximum attention to detail. The grapes for this Rose was harvested cold and kept on skins for 4 hours before being drained off and then treated in a similar way to a white wine. The ferments were kept cool between 12-14 degrees for 15 days, maintaining the vibrant acid and fresh fruit characters. The wine received no oak contact prior to bottling in May 2020.
