Kilikanoon Walton Clare Valley Grenache 2020

The wine is a pure expression of Grenache. Aromas of strawberry, dark cherries (almost Cherry Ripe), cedar-spice with hints of sandalwood. The palate is silky smooth and vibrant, redolent with red cherries, red plums, blood orange and chocolate. The finish is long, expressive and youthful. Walton 1946 Grenache is drinking superbly now, however will reward careful cellaring for a further 15 years.

Kopparossa Coonawarra Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

A richly flavoured red showing intense berry flavours with a hint of chocolate and mint on the after palate. The soft oak tannins and mouth filling flavours combine to produce a complex wine with great length. Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon Bottle ages extremely well. It’s ability to age and still retain varietal fruit characters as well as develop attractive new aromas and flavours is legendary. This wine demonstrates that capability perfectly.

1838 Reserve Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre 2021

The Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre blend combines the bold, clean "strawberries and cream" of Grenache with the bold pepper and spice of Shiraz and the earthy depth and soft tannin of Mourvedre. A classic medium bodied blend, vibrant crimson in colour, with a sweet nose and flavours of cherry and dark plum with rounded tannins to follow.

It's elegantly styled, showing ripe cherry, clove, thyme and toasted nut aromas with a hint of mushroom complexity. The palate displays gentle weight and silky flow well framed by fine tannins, finishing supple and friendly. Attractively expressed and immediately appealing.

Montara Raven Park Shiraz 2019

From time to time ravens can be seen circling above the vineyards of Raven Park. Raven Park Shiraz is a typical Victorian style with spicy plum characteristics on the nose. The palate displays seductive red cherry combined with sweet fruit and vanilla from the American Oak.

Escapade Vineyards Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021

Deep dark red and purple in colour. The nose in intoxicating with raspberry, licorice along with some subtle pepper, oak, and dried herbs. Full bodied palate which is highly concentrated with Raspberry, black olive, plum and licorice all feature with some dark chocolate providing the core flavours. Wonderfully integrated tannins then give the texture and balance the wine perfectly.

Sieur d Arques Pure Velvet Marselan 2019

A beautiful red colour with ruby highlights. The complex nose reveals aromas of red fruits such as cherry or blackberry. The mouth is well balanced with supple and melted tannins. The finish is fruity, silky, slightly spicy with good length.

Montara Homeblock Cabernet Merlot 2016

From Victoria's Montara Wines comes this no-nonsense, flavoursome Cabernet Merlot under their Homeblock Estate label. A good example of a red with a little bit of age. Mid red with a brick hue. Restrained aromas of plum, cedar and earth. Quite gentle and easy-drinking with juicy layers of mulberry, plum, black olive and cedar, softening tannins, earthy complexity from time in bottle, and a dry finish.

Kilikanoon Walton Clare Valley Grenache 2020

Planted in 1946, the Walton old block Grenache is a monument to the history of the Clare Valley. These dry-grown bush vines are planted in terra rossa soils allowing excellent drainage at an elevation between 370 and 390 metres. The westerly aspect and east/west facing rows ensures the vines are able to soak up the late summer sun while avoiding the harsh conditions of the Clare mid summer.

Hand-picked, the grapes are carefully transported to the winery in half tonne bins where they are hand sorted and destemmed prior to fermentation in open vats. Traditional techniques with minimal intervention are used to ensure that the vineyard fully expresses itself such as hand plunging and basket pressing into large 500 litre oak “Puncheons” . This focused and tender care ensures that one of the great legacies of the region remains alive today for your continued enjoyment.

Striking Red The Broken Shovel Central Otago Pinot Noir 2019

This vibrant fruit driven Central Otago Pinot Noir is crafted from grapes grown on the glacial terraces in the Upper Clutha Valley of Central Otago, one of the southernmost winegrowing regions in the world.

The vines are intensively managed to achieve perfectly ripe fruit for winemaking. All grapes are carefully harvested by hand with only the best fruit going to the winery.

Escapade Vineyards Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021

Sourced from a selection of growers I have worked with for several years across different hamlets of the Barossa Valley including Greenock, Tanunda, Ebenezer, and Bethany. The individual vineyards were picked and crushed separately providing different characteristics which then came together and were transformed by assemblage. All fruit was picked and underwent fermentation in small 4 tonne open fermenters. The juice was pumped twice a week for a one week before draining and being slowly basket pressed. Post ferment the wine aged in 2–4-year-old French oak.

Hot prefermentation maceration followed by traditional vinification at controlled temperature to maintain the freshness of the aromas.

It’s then densely structured with hearty tannins and lashings of dark berry fruits before finishing long and strong.
