Bright, deep garnet. Intense, rich red and black fruits, overlayed with dried florals and spice. A layered, generous wine with bounds of aromatic florals and spice, luscious red and black fruits paired with finely structured tannins and mouthwatering acidity.

Katnook Winemakers Edition Coonawarra Shiraz 2017

The nose displays a complex array of fruit, spice and subtle oak aromas. Intense red berry fruit with hints of spiced plum, cloves and spice, interwoven with subtle oak characters of mocha and vanillin. The medium bodied, rounded palate is complemented by silky tannins and great length. Try with a juicy chargrilled steak, slow cooked lamb shanks or wood fired pizza.

Deep purple with red brick flash around edge. Blackberry fruits with hints of licorice, oak and aniseed. The palate is softly spoken and fruit driven initially with blackberries, plums and licorice notes giving your insight into what is ahead. An approachable mid palate, which is full-flavored, while the fine-grained tannins finish with complex notes of olives, cashew nuts and oak. An alluring finish, which is moreish and smooth, yet has great length.

The 2017 Billi Billi Shiraz is sourced from a selection of premium cool climate vineyards throughout Victoria; predominantly the Grampians including a portion from the Mount Langi Ghiran vineyards, home of the iconic Langi Shiraz. The 2017 vintage delivered ideal growing conditions with a long dry summer and cool nights.

The Winemaker’s Edition celebrates the elegance of Coonawarra’s cool climate Shiraz. The wine has been carefully selected and crafted by the team at Katnook and exhibits the complex characteristics of Coonawarra terroir and fruit, elegantly balanced through dedicated winemaking.

The Colonial Estate Explorateur Barossa Valley Shiraz 2018

The vineyards that make up Explorateur are based in the northwestern Barossa Valley. This is a belt of land/terroir that runs from just to the northwest of Tanunda – Marananga, Greenock, Moppa, Ebenezer, and through to Stockwell, just north of Nuriootpa. Cropping levels are kept low to ensure fruit flavour is focus. The same equipment that is accorded to our more expensive wines is made available to Explorateur. Fermentation is French in approach for up to two thirds of the wine made; the rest is vinified in a more Australian way.
