Tasting Notes:

A pale straw with lime green hue, the Oxford Landing Estates Viognier 2011 has a lifted musk and honeysuckle aroma, with a hint of poached quince and mandarin peel. The wine is richly textural on the palate with classic grainy Viognier minerality complemented perfectly with ripe flavours of late season peaches and apricots. This is great drinking now and with careful cellaring this wine will continue to exhibit these generous Viognier flavours and textures for at least two to three years.

Technical:

Oxford Landing Estates vineyard was established in 1958 on the banks of the Murray River in South Australiawith an innovative and colourful history spanning 50 years. A relatively cool December, January and February allowed for optimal ripening and an even flavour development. The grapes were harvested during March through to early April capturing the alluring and varietal essence of Viognier. After harvest the Viognier grapes were gently pressed and the juice handled with controlled oxidation. The fermentation occurred naturally with indigenous yeasts, which have created complex layers of flavour. After ferment the wine was stored on yeast lees for six to nine months to build complexity and richness on the palate.
