It’s a wine of taut lines and yet it doesn’t feel hard – the comparison to ripe year Hunter Semillon is more apparent than ever. Yet as a young wine you’re scratching for much flavour. "Benchmark Marsanne in any given year and most especially in the great vintage of 2021, this wine manages to convey several different things, all in concert with each other: tropical fruit (think pineapple, green mango, pink grapefruit, new season paw-paw and a little chunk of guava), minerality (brine, limestone, shale and graphite), pithy acidity and length of flavour that is downright impressive. The coolest part of this wine is its ageing potential. It has a proven track record for going decades in the cellar, and has no business being that good at this price."
