The Lyncroft always has a very distinctive nose with lemon purity and floral notes, showing some attractive and richer honey suckle aromas too. The palate is very complex, with a slightly creamy texture with hints of oatmeal, but ultimately with Lyncroft’s searing sherbert like acidity under-pinning everything nicely.
Located in the hills above Shoreham, the dry grown Lyncroft Chardonnay vines have a south easterly disposition towards the cold waters of Bass Strait and are usually the last of our Chardonnay grapes to be picked.50% malo-lactic fermentation.
95 Point Rated - Huon Hooke The Real Review
"Subtle bouquet with a fruit-driven personality, some cashew nut notes and slight creamy dairy-like aromas. The palate is powerful, persistent and quite complex. Good drive and attack. Very good flavour and elegance. Delicious chardonnay."
94 Point Rated - James Halliday Wine Companion
"Fermented in used French barriques, 40% mlf, blended after 7 months. For whatever reason (none obvious), this has a far from unpleasant, albeit funky, edge of complexity to its bouquet and palate, adding a point of difference; ml has also made its impact felt, this headed in the opposite direction, with most of the Stonier Chardonnays following common regional practice."
93 Point Rated - Mike Bennie The Real Review
"Lyncroft sounds like the middle name of an English Public School boy, or an upmarket dog boarding kennel, nee, canine resort. It’s a vineyard, but. Move over Morgan Winthrop Stenbridge III. Cool and reserved wine of quiet luxury. It shows with stone fruit, ripe apple, cinnamon scents. Flavours are soft and focussed on similar to the perfume, though there’s a good squirt of limey tang to finish the wine. It feels like a wine of some pedigree, impeccably made and delivering a straight-satisfying experience. All that."
