Tasting Notes:

The wine is pale yellow with a clear hue. Fine aromas of white flowers and stone fruits encased with a flinty lees reduction. The palate is focused and pure with bright melon fruits, sweet spice and a toasted almond oak complexity. The acidity is fine with a lime sorbet like flavour. An elegant and focused style that will age gracefully.

Technical:

The 2018 growing season was divided into two halves. Winter and Spring was cool with good rain fall and moister in the soils. Vine growth took advantage of these conditions and we achieved great canopies with higher than average crop levels heading into summer. Some high humidity days over the Christmas period meant we needed to be in high alert from the elevated disease pressure. Luckily, Summer turned a corner and we experienced above average temperatures and below average rain fall. This continued through mid-January and February, prompted all varieties to ripen together and quickly. As a result, we experienced a compressed vintage with little time between the early varieties (Chardonnay & Pinot) and the later varieties (Riesling, Shiraz & Cabernet).

Accolades & Awards:

95 Point Rated  - James Halliday Wine Companion

"Elegant, but you can sense the tight hold on the vinification of the wine to achieve this result. Juicy versus savoury clues abound. Exemplary balance."

94 Point Rated - Gary Walsh The Wine Front

"White peach, lime, nougat and vanilla, just a little spice and smokiness. Medium-bodied, gloss and glide, silky flavour, but flinty and cut with green olive and green herb, in amongst the cool white fruits and almond, finish is firm and long. Beautifully made. Upper Yarra verve and style delivered so well."

93 Point Rated - Huon Hooke The Real Review

"Light straw-yellow hue, with an attractively nutty, oak-touched bouquet, low-level sulfides as well, adding a smoked charcuterie note. Intense and refined, long and savoury on the palate, with lemony notes among the many flavours and a clean, dry follow-through. A superb wine."
