Tasting Notes:

The golden hue of this wine hints at the lush decadence that is to come. A bright nose of white flowers, citrus honey and marmalade shows great complexity and focus. On the palate the lush flavours of white peach, nectarine and pears are shot through with zesty citrus that drives the balanced palate and ensures the fruit sweetness is finished off with a clean, crisp snap.

Technical:

The wines in this range are intended to be approachable styles of wine that are ideally suited to casual get-togethers and offer exceptional value for money. Whilst drinking well upon release they still have great aging potential and follow the Hemera Estate principle of ‘Intensity, Structure and Elegance’. Fruit driven and full of flavour these wines over deliver on quality. 2014 Vintage saw the hottest summer recorded in South Australia, with thirteen days reaching 40 degrees or above and strong winds at night. This resulted in lower than average crops and early ripening across most varieties. After the heat, a rain event brought the most February rain for 30 years, providing much needed moisture and balancing sugar formation with flavour ripening. The resultant wines are abundant in fruit with elegant mouth-feel. Regular tasting in the vineyard defines the moment the grapes have achieved optimum flavour ripeness. They are then picked in the cool of the night and brought into the winery where they are gently crushed and pressed. A high proportion of ‘pressings’ juice is used in this wine as it contains the richest fruit flavours and honey overtones. The fermentation went through at cool temperatures of 10-14 ̊C for maximum fruit flavour and aromatics. The 3 wines were blended mid-fermentation to allow full integration of flavours.

Varietal composition: 48% Semillon / 38% Riesling / 14% Chardonnay
