Aromas of white peaches and dried honey are married to biscuity oak, light cashew and citrusy nougat notes. Medium weight with an elegant fresh feel, fleshy white peach and nectarine fruits are underpinned by subtle dried honey characters, citrus and a dash of flinty minerality. Finishes dry with lively acidity and a medium to long aftertaste.

"The nose shows worked peach and brioche with beautiful definition of flint, fig and nougat. The wine is generous and well rounded with a citrus core of acidity; stone fruits focus on white peach and are lifted by a touch of grapefruit. There is a coiled up tension that is showcased through the build of texture and intensity as the wine moves across the palate, oak has impact through both texture and spice. The length to finish is significant, with the wine sure to live for a decade or more."
95 Point Rated - James Halliday Wine Companion
"A low-yielding site set on exposed north-facing slopes, Sexton vineyard produces wines of depth and concentration. There's more richness here than the other 2019 chardonnay releases from this winery, with stone fruit coming into play on the bouquet and palate and a more textural feeling. There's width and length to the flavour profile, the oak a well-integrated component throughout. The finish shows a chalky minerality with real persistence."
94 Point Rated - Bob Campbell The Real Review
"Bright, vibrant and quite complex chardonnay with lively citrus, lemon and white peach, together with cashew nut and baguette crust flavours. A high-energy wine with purity, an ethereal texture and lingering finish."

"Tight and lean, skeletal and firm, barely there citrus characters, mineral water, saline notes. Whips across the palate in a green, cool, almost minty breath of precise and ultra fine, needle thrust of chardonnay. Blink and you’ll miss it kind of style but has the finesse and tension many seek from Australia’s uber chardonnay revolution. Despite its attempt at acid-forged finesse, there’s just a lick or a breath of yeasty nuttiness in there too. Nicely done in its style, where laser-like precision is the motif."
A cool start to the season was punctuated by a few solid rain events in December that resulted in very large healthy green vineyard canopies. The final stage of the growing season was warmer than average which led to accelerated ripening, but the natural acids in all the chardonnay blocks was surprisingly high. Fruit was hand sorted in both vineyard and winery. 2019 is an exceptional chardonnay vintage.
100% hand picked Whole bunch pressed, indigenous fermentation. Indigenous fermentation in 500L French puncheons. No batonage. No malolactic fermentation. Maturation for 10 months in new and used French oak – 20% new, 80% older. New oak was Taransaud and D&J.
Located on the steep north facing slopes of the Warramate Ranges, the Sexton Vineyard is exposed and demanding. Being on the higher slopes, topsoil is thin and root systems have established themselves in shallow gravelly loams above a tough rocky clay base. Bunch yields set naturally low in this environment, resulting in intensely flavoured fruit with high skin to juice ratio.
