Rich, creamy, mouth-filling chardonnay with peach, citrus, green apple, butterscotch, toasted nut and spicy oak flavours. A generously-proportioned wine, with a backbone of juicy acidity.

Technical:

100% grown from Escarpment’s Te Muna Road site in what can be considered a perfect, mild season. The summer allowed a normal crop load to ripen slowly, producing powerful opulent flavours and a flinty mineral backbone which combine beautifully with barrel fermentation to create Burgundian inspired Chardonnay. Flavours are reminiscent of white stone fruit with delightful soft texture ensuring a long commanding finish. Partial malolactic fermentation and lees stirring has enhanced the texture, complexity and mouth feel allowing it to match most entrée dishes and seafood.

Accolades & Awards:

93 Point Rated - Huon Hooke

"Light to mid-straw-yellow hue. The bouquet is strongly smoky from sulfides, while the wine is overall savoury and restrained, delicate and refined, with a clean, appetisingly dry finish and good length. The acidity is beautifully balanced. It's in typical Escarpment style, de-emphasising primary fruit. I like it a lot."

92 Point Rated - Bob Campbell

"Rich, creamy, mouth-filling chardonnay with peach, citrus, green apple, butterscotch, toasted nut and spicy oak flavours. A generously-proportioned wine, with a backbone of juicy acidity. Accessible now but with some ageing potential"
