Tasting Notes:

This Pinot Gris is a real crowd pleaser, a lovely balanced white suitable for all occasions. Primary fruit characters of white peach and apples are followed with a hint of spice and honeysuckle, offering layers of depth and intrigue. The palate is juicy, round with a creamy textured finish. More honey and pear notes are followed with a slight hint of crisp natural acidity which keep the wine fresh and vivacious.

Technical:

With a later flowering in 2019 due to a cooler than average spring the 2020 vintage was always going to be slow to start. The poor flowering conditions also contributed to lower number of bunches and smaller berries. This held true throughout the season, with very low yields that were spread throughout all varieties. A slgikht hit of rain in January also caused some pressures. However preventative action in the vineyard really helped us protect our crop. The overall result is a really low yielding year, but the quality of Pinot and Chardonnay is looking great and cannot wait to see how the wines evolve in barrel and bottle.

Harvested over two separate nights, with nice crunchy natural acidity in the first pick, and more butterscotch and tropical notes on the later pick. Grapes are pressed quickly with a dash of enzyme with pressings pumped to a separate tank and fined to remove coarse phenolics. The clean juice is racked off gross lees to a concrete tank where ferment commences naturally in tank. Kept on light lees till July when the wine was filtered then bottled in August.
