Tasting Notes:

Clear crimson hue; lifts the ante with a fragrant and pure mix of cherry and plum, then a seamless transition to the delicious, fresh and finely pitched palate. The inclusion of 15% whole bunches gives the wine X-factor that separates it from its similarly priced siblings.

Technical:

The Stonier Reserve Pinot Noir has always been a blend of our top Pinot Noir vineyards, all single releases in their own right and all located throughout the southern half of the Peninsula. The 2018 Reserve release is a blend of almost equal proportions of the Windmill, Stonier Family, Merron’s, Lyncroft and Gainsborouogh Park vineyards. There is an abundance of both red fruits and dark cherry on the nose with some attractive oak char. There is generous amount of tannin throughout the palate, but the depth of red and blue fruits fills the mouth and carries it, creating a nice solid direction and length. Bottled in March, 2019.

Accolades & Awards:

94 Point Rated - Huon Hooke The Real Review

"Light to medium red/purple colour. The bouquet is savoury, earthy, foresty, slightly bunchy and has a lot of charm, as does the taste. It's medium-bodied and has some mid-palate intensity and focus, and is quite piercing. The wine is long and refined, with great persistence and heaps of charm. An ethereal pinot of true ""line and length."

94 Point Rated - Toni Paterson The Real Review

"An elegant pinot with light to medium-body and a tight, youthful palate. Snappy cherry flavours. Delicate and refined with great flavour and pinosity "

94 Point Rated - Decanter
"A blend of KBS (66%), Merron’s (16%), Windmill (12%) and Stonier Family (6%) vineyards, Aged for 10 months in 22% new French oak puncheons. As a result, this is a bolder, denser Pinot with a distinct charcuterie edge to its melange of sweet cherry chocolate, earthy beetroot, sappy, slightly leafy red fruits, blackcurrant and kirsch. It has meaty, earthy tannins which are ripe but powerful, lending plenty of oomph. 495 cases made. Drinking Window 2020 - 2028"
