Tasting Notes:

Deep purple in colour this wine is lifted and spicy with sufficient power to carry the American oak. The palate does not hold back, deep, spicy potpourri and abundant tannins will see many years reward.

Technical:

Conventionally fermented and transferred to about 10% new American Oak and matured for twelve months. Drawn from our best site in the very north of Margaret River, consisting of fine gravels over ironstone and deeper schists. Lyre trellis and hand picked thirty year old vines. A warm start to the vintage was moderated by later rains that cooled the region considerably and saw a vintage of fine and consistent quality fruit.

Accolades & Awards:

91 Point Rated James Halliday Wine Companion

"Dark plum, tobacco and red cherry flavours are in here somewhere, but the wine is currently dominated by a veneer of high quality, toasty oak. Finishes with strict oak tannins plying the roof of the mouth and gums. Needs time."
