Tasting Notes:

Ripe plum and black cherry fruit with hints of mocha, graphite and some spicy notes as well. A nice little touch of charry French oak in the background mix. The palate is medium bodied with the ripe, dark fruits to the fore with balanced acidity and savoury tannins giving length and structure to the wine.

Technical:

Clare Valley Shiraz does tend to live in the shadow cast by our southern colleagues in the Barossa and McLaren Vale, but we produce terrific medium bodied wines year after year that age slowly and gracefully and, in many instances, at a fraction of the price. Delicious to drink now and the next 7 -10 years. Try this with hare braised in red wine.

Fruit from Polish Hill River. A sleek and glossy sort of wine, but it doesn't lack distinctive regional and varietal character for that. Aromas and flavours of plum and blueberry are the theme, with a ferrous, earthy quality adding a more savoury inflection, polished by a light veneer of oak. Smoothly textured and fleshy, the clip of acid and tannin completes it well.

A vivacious wine with bright red fruit aromatics plus redcurrant and cherry flavours. A delicious medium-bodied shiraz that is easy to drink and enjoy. Good energy and fruit clarity. I enjoy its composure and harmony. Decant and serve in a large glass to bring out its best.
