Deep dark red with a purple hue. The nose is perfumed, aromatic, displaying dark berry fruits with mint chocolate, sage, & cedary oak. The palate is medium-bodied, flush with red & black berries, dark chocolate, roasting herbs & black olive notes. The various varieties contributing characters like a firework display. A thread of bright mineral acidity runs through the palate which closes with a fine tannic grip.
Small selectively picked & sorted additions of Merlot (8%) & Malbec (1%) help deliver a juicy, earlier drinking style of Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon, with Petit Verdot (2%) helping to lift the darker fruit spectrum. Fermented in several batches in both closed & open-fermenters & then pressed off skins after 10 to 21 days. This was followed by maturation for 15 months in French barriques of which 25% were new.
Cabernet Sauvignon 89%, Merlot 8%.

"'This is such a bright and juicy blend bursting with lively ripe fruits delivered with high energy. It’s cabernet dominant using small amounts of merlot, petit verdot and malbec. This was a cooler vintage, and it shows in the bright red berry characters and seductive perfumes. Fine chalky tannins and a little oak support a medium bodied palate. Really nice wine for the next few years."
Highly Rated - Gary Walsh
"Gee, you have to enjoy peppermint and chocolate here, it’s quite overt in the mint department, dried herbs, some char, and perfumed small dark berries. Medium-bodied, quite chewy and herbal, but then the mixed berries and dark chocolate comes in, and a slightly tangy tomato flavour in the aftertaste. It’s a bit hard and angular, at least as at now."
