    Tasting Notes:

Dense crimson red in colour, the nose offers raspberry, blackberry and cherry fruit combining crushed wild herbs and black pepper and a hint of chocolate. The fine, medium bodied palate shows juicy succulent texture with vibrant concentrated red berry fruits with red licorice, spice and pepper while fine chalky tannins provide backbone and length to the finish. A bright fruit driven style with very moderate oak influence.

    Technical:

Juniper Crossing Shiraz has always been European in outlook, medium bodied, structured with berries and spice, and this vintage was no exception. 2017 was a cool vintage in Margaret River which has emphasized the pepper and spice character in this wine, which is 85% hand-picked from the oldest unirrigated shiraz vines in the region. The use of some whole bunch and wild ferment has produced a lifted, aromatic, lithe wine with plenty of character that will complement dishes with a touch of spice.

    Accolades & Awards:
93 Point Rated - James Halliday Wine Companion

"85% estate dry-grown 44yo vines at Wilyabrup, the balance from the estate vineyard at Forest Grove. Complex vinification, 12 months in French oak (10% new). Bright crimson hue; a fresh vibrant, medium-bodied shiraz, unusually with red fruits dominant."

92 Point Rated - Ray Jordan The West Australian

"'A highly scented shiraz that comes from what was a significantly cooler vintage. It’s medium to full-bodied with a delightfully vibrant mouthfeel. Has a typically spicy, dried herbs character with fine chalky tannins and a small lick of new oak to lift the finish. A polished and impressive wine for this price. Best over the first five years."

    92 Point Rated - Q Wine Reviews

"A super delish Shiraz screaming value. Bright red fruit is rolled through a crust of crushed black pepper. Give it some time to settle and the fruit nudges it's way past all that peppery spice. Medium bodied, delivery is lush and moreish highlighted by buckets of blue fruits and plums. Some char and elegant licks of vanilla and milk chocolate keep the enthusiasm levels high. Give it a decant or a good swirl and you're winning. I could be persuaded to add another point. Drink now to six years."

91 Point Rated - James Suckling

"Exuberant brambleberry essence, blueberry tart, mint and eucalyptus. Medium to full body, soft and juicy tannins and a succulent, rounded finish."

Highly Rated - Huon Hooke The Real Review

"Deep, youthful red/purple colour; the bouquet vanillan and plummy, fresh and bright, with softness and balance and ready drinkability. A lick of spice. The wine is bold and bright and straightforward, with drinkability and each-way appeal - it would also age quite well."
