Tasting Notes:

Brilliant cherry red. Aromas of strawberries, mulberry and cherry with flashes of cardamom and anise. Further complexed by subtle influence of French oak spice. Juicy and sweet fruited with a palate full of ripe berry fruits, fine tannins, and subtle oak all combine to provide a palate of balance, texture and mineral acid drive.

Technical:

History shows that Thomas Hardy first blended grapes from multiple regions in 1865. Thomas believed that blending grapes with different characteristics would complement and enhance the qualities of each region. So began Hardys rich blending heritage; with each new blend a unique code was created starting from A001 and labelled Heritage Reserve Bin or HRB.

2018 had an excellent lead-up to harvest, saw moderate yields and good berry size with cooler conditions for most of the growing season. A vintage without extremes of heat and later ripening than recent vintages saw fruit ripen slowly and steadily. Picked at optimum maturity then made in a way that combines old and new world techniques. An enticing, highly aromatic release full of red berry, spice and autumnal leaf, with a palate of finesse and balance and a soft juicy fruit profile.

Accolades & Awards:

96 Point Rated - Royal Adelaide WIne Show 2020

95 Point Rated Nick Butler

"Pale, translucent red colour. Confident in the glass. Charry oak and bunch-spice notes lead a vibrant, red-berried nose, strawberries and cherries. Complex and firm. Definitely ripe - winemaking has matched artifice to fruit, soft and plush wild strawberries meet the backbone of tannin and finely-grained oak. Polished and pristine."

Top Rank & Top Value - The Real Review

"Hardys are the proud custodians of quality vineyards across Australia’s premium grape-growing regions. This wine continues their tradition of blending grapes from multiple regions in search of the perfect final product. Yarra Valley pinot provides elegance and lift; Tasmania the structure and silken texture. Masterful blending results in a seriously classy expression of the variety at an excellent price."

Must Drink Reds For Winter - Gourmet Traveller Wine

"This enticing, highly aromatic wine shows notes of strawberries, mulberries and cherry, with flashes of cardamom and anise, alongside subtle French oak spice. The palate is juicy and sweet-fruited with ripe berry fruits, fine tannins and a mineral acid drive."
