Tasting Notes:

Opaque with dark red hues. Big, rich and brooding with a chewy mouthfeel, palate flavours of black cherries and liquorice are dominate over a back palate of leather, earth and spice. Solid firmish tannins with a medium to long spicy black cherry, earth and leather aftertaste.

Technical:

Named after Gregory Blaxland, who as the co-leader of the first successful crossing of the Blue Mountains, later became one of the first settlers to plant grapes and make wine in Australia. This is the first vintage named in is honour.

Extended skin contact allowed the palate to soften. This wine matures in 1 year old French oak barrels for 6 months to allow the fruit aromas to develop
