Tasting Notes:

Alexander King Cameron Heritage Reserve Limestone Coast Shiraz 2020

Black core with red brick hue. Beautifully fragrant nose with alluring blackberry, blueberry notes with oak and Chinese five spice adding the complexity. The palate is long and luscious displaying fleshy fruit flavours highlighting the high-quality fruit used for this wine. Blackberry characters, along with some blueberries, licorice, black pepper, and dusty leather interwoven across the palate with fine tannins lingering on the tangy finish.

The Colonial Estate Explorateur Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021

Deep purple with red brick flash around edge. Blackberry fruits with hints of licorice, oak and aniseed. The palate is softly spoken and fruit driven initially with blackberries, plums and licorice notes giving your insight into what is ahead. An approachable mid palate, which is full-flavored, while the fine-grained tannins finish with complex notes of olives, cashew nuts and oak. An alluring finish, which is moreish and smooth, yet has great length.

Under & Over Heathcote Shiraz 2018

Youthful red purple with crimson hues. Aromas of dark cherry & earthy black fruits with subtle biscuity oak.  Pure focused palate with elegant blackberry fruits and fine-grained slatey skeletal tannins adding grip and length.

1838 Reserve Shiraz 2021

Purple to crimson red around the edge. A fruit bomb in its infancy the nose exhibits dark fruit flavours of freshly cut plum and some blueberry while mocha, chocolate, licorice and subtle oak ensure a highly aromatic and voluptuous nose. The palate is quite velvety in texture, with amazing fruit concentration in its youth featuring plum, chocolate, licorice with a touch of spice, perfectly interwoven oak and the perfect level of fine grainy tannin give line and length.

Lune Shiraz 2019

The palate is the highlight of the wine, exhibiting rich and vibrant varietal berry-fruit flavours. This is a full, well-rounded red wine that is smooth, complex and full in flavour. This wine is well suited to cheeses, red meats and even some spicy Asian dishes, or can be sipped on its own.

Technical:

Alexander King Cameron Heritage Reserve Limestone Coast Shiraz 2020

The fruit was selected from a single vineyard with a northeast facing slope and picked at optimum ripeness and transported to the winery and immediately crushed. Following on from this we fermented the juice on skins for 12 days to maximise colour and flavour extraction. The skins were then pressed gently and the pressings pumped back with the free-run juice. The wine was then fermented over a week then allowed to settle and was then racked off lees. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barrel and then was aged in the same barrels for 14 months. The wine was blended and prepared for bottling with minimal filtration.

The Colonial Estate Explorateur Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021

The vineyards that make up Explorateur are based in the northwestern Barossa Valley. This is a belt of land/terroir that runs from just to the northwest of Tanunda – Marananga, Greenock, Moppa, Ebenezer, and through to Stockwell, just north of Nuriootpa. Cropping levels are kept low to ensure fruit flavour is focus. The same equipment that is accorded to our more expensive wines is made available to Explorateur. Fermentation is French in approach for up to two thirds of the wine made; the rest is vinified in a more Australian way.

1838 Reserve Shiraz 2021

Fruit was sourced from several well-known growers in South Australia from what was another great vintage in terms of quality although yields were down across the region. The different sites allowed us to pick the fruit over a extended period allowing each vineyard to develop differing characters to compliment each other and also allowed us at the winery to treat the parcels individually in small ferments with longer than usual skin contact, which is always ideal. The result is an outstanding wine with obvious time and care taken with it throughout the vinification process. This wine was fermented warm and received pump overs on a daily basis during fermentation. Aged in primarily old 2-3 year old oak to add another level of complexity without over powering the fruit.

Lune Shiraz 2019

Lune wine is from the Riverland in South Australia, where we carefully select the grapes from surrounding vineyards harvesting the best possible yields for our wine. This creates a rich and complex wine with layers of flavour
