DESCRIPTION
Riesling is a big part of my winemaking heritage. For 35 years I have been handcrafting true Australian Riesling from the high country of The Adelaide Hills, Eden Valley and the Clare Valley which are all part South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges.
"The 2011 Cobbler Creek Riesling offers notes of ripe apples, fresh pear juice, peach blossoms and a hint of wet pebbles. Light to medium bodied, dry and very crisp in the mouth, it offers mouth-filling citrus and apple flavors and a long, clean finish. Approachable now, it should remain good to 2016+." This is one of the best Riesling wines that I've ever made. A wet winter due to the weather effects of La Nina ensured great flavour in the fruit and moderate temperatures at harvest allowed me to choose hand selection of the bunches followed by whole cluster pressing. I used only the finest first pressed juice to make this wine, cold fermentation and early bottling has ensured fruity, clean, crisp characters.
Jasmine blossom and citrus characters on the nose carry through to fruity lime and guava on the palate. All natural fruit acid; nothing added during the winemaking ensures a wonderful minerality on the finish making this wine the perfect accompaniment to fresh seafood, especially shellfish. The problem I have is not drinking it all before the oysters arrive. But maybe that's just me.
