Tasting Notes:

The Tomich Hill range is handcrafted from estate grown fruit from our high altitude cool climate vineyard in the Adelaide Hills. The resulting wines display elegance, complexity and true exhibition of variety and class. Straw in colour. Classically aromatic with hints of lime & lemon. Delicate, lively and floral spice with a backbone of lime and elderflower. Dry clean and persistent.

Technical:

2013 was a terrific vintage for the hills compared to rest of the years. With a warm start to spring the vines jumped into life in the third week of spring and nev-er looked back. A good dry Summer with vintage flowing beautifully. The fruit ripening gracefully over last few weeks, a rain free harvest. Classic aromatic Riesling. The grapes are picked in two parcels combining four different clones of Riesling. These batches are fermented separately and blended for a crisp and persisting palate. Delicate, with lively floral spice and hints of lime. This Riesling displays steely intensity on the finish.

In all its glory, the Tomich Hill Single Vineyard Adelaide Hills Riesling 2013 outpointed the Odeon Watervale Riesling ($55) and was equal pointed with Jim Barry The Florita Clare Valley Riesling ($45).
