Tasting Notes:

The bouquet displays classic Sauvignon Blanc aromas of gooseberry and passionfruit with stone fruits, lime zest and herbaceous characters. This all leads to a palate that exhibits excellent fruit concentration and depth of flavour all the while being beautifully restrained and elegant.

Technical:

The Winery's aim is best summed up by 'fine wine begins with the vine'. Their approach is through sustainable viticulture where they strive for balance in the vineyard. This ultimately provides grapes that are a reflection of the particular site. The grapes were harvested in the cool morning and the juice cold settled for 48 hours prior to racking to stainless steel tanks and a portion (10%) to seasoned French oak for ferment. The thiol releasing yeast X-5 was used for fermentation. The wine was then racked and left to mature on fine lees for 4 months before bottling.

The vineyard is situated within an ancient bend of the Opawa River and the vineyard name in fact refers to the shape of the road which follows this old river channel.

This particular Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is definitely a good choice for those curios about organic wine - clean an crisp taste, very enjoyable and definitely not disappointing !

Rated 5 out of 5 by Roddles from A fancy N Z Savvy for summertime sipping. The wine displays classic aromas of gooseberry and passionfruit on the nose. The palate is crisp with mineral acidity and I thought a touch of oak, which would help develop leading to its complexity leading to a refined palate giving it a refined palate showing excellent fruit concentration and depth of flavour. Another great example of the wines from the Wairau plains, Marlborough. I don't have a favorite dish to pair it with but fresh seafood is hard to beat. It definitely has its own personality. Another of Dans' favourites.
