Tasting Notes:

A pale golden straw with vibrant green hues, the Oxford Landing Estates Chardonnay 2011 has lifted aromas of freshly cut white peaches citrus and honeydew melon with an underlying hint of nougat and nutmeg and cinnamon spice. The wine has a wonderfully even texture on the palate, with underlying white stone fruits and fresh citrus flavours. A fine creamy texture is the result of continual lees stirring. This is a crisp  clean wine with persistent and tantalising mineral acidity.

Technical:

Twenty per cent of this blend was fermented using wild yeast indigenous to the vineyard and flavours developed well throughout the mild and extended ripening season. The bright and fresh flavours of citrus and stone fruit melded seamlessly with extended lees contact to provide a silky rich mid palate. A small portion of reserve wine from French oak barrels combines to contribute extra layers of complexity and texture to enhance the wine's innate fruit drive. The Chardonnay for Oxford Landing Estates is grown on a range of red sandy soils over limestone. Carefully controlled irrigation of these individual sites allows optimal fruit flavour to develop.

Accolades & Awards:

James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2013

"The bright yellow-green colour is a pleasant surprise. Both it and the flavour and weight of the wine suggest some skin contact, difficult to handle if there is any botrytis or mildew in the grapes. There is also some appealing citrus tang on the finish of the peachy palate. This is highly skilled and sophisticated winemaking for an $8.95 wine. Grab it and drink it now."

Harvey Steiman Wine Spectator, 29 Feb 2012
"A light, tangy white, with pretty lime and green pineapple flavors. Drink now."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown The Wine Advocate #198, December 2011
"The 2011 Chardonnay has waxy lemon, fresh apple and pear notes. Medium-bodied, crisp and well-balanced, it has a medium-long, clean finish."
