Tasting Notes:

Straw colour with flashes of lime green. Typical Clare Valley Riesling comprising lovely lemon and lime notes with an underlying grapefruit character. The palate showcases exactly what we consider Clare Valley to be all about with citrus flavours and mineral tones. The final blend shows intense lemon, lime and grapefruit on the palate with an underlying flintiness and a clean, crisp, lingering finish.

Technical:

The 2012 growing conditions in the valley were relatively mild, consistent spring rains resulting in good canopy growth. Vintage was one to two weeks early overall with the harvest conditions excellent. Yields were light in comparison to longterm averages, but some varieties including Riesling were exceptional with above average yields. The quality of the Riesling fruit reflected the slow and mild growing season. The fruit for this wine was sourced from Watervale and yielded above average crops. The fruit was machine picked at various stages in the cool of the morning. After crushing, the free run juice was isolated and underwent a slow, cool fermentation before being blended for bottling.
