Tasting Notes:

The fruit for this wine came from a single vineyard in the Currency Creek region of South Australia. It has a fine definition of tropical flavours and very little oak influence. Fresh and vibrant flavours and a defined acid balance.

Technical:

Less than 5% of the wine saw any oak. The small portion which did was fully fermented in new French oak and completed malolactic fermentation in the oak. This small portion blended back across the larger component gives us a hint of nuttiness and superb freshness at the same time. 2012 was one of the great vintages for Currency Creek, with a warm to mild summer and lengthy growing periods. The grapes were harvested during the cool of the evening allowing for optimal quality and preservation of the natural fruit flavours. The choice of minimal oak treatment allows the natural fruit flavours of the chardonnay to shine. The result is a balanced and beautifully integrated wine.

Accolades & Awards:

Wine Spectator Magazine

"Polished and refreshingly balanced to show pear and floral flavours on an open-textured frame, echoing gently."
