"A mini-vertical tasting of Forrest Sauvignon Blancs back to '06 (and '01 as a back-marker) showed some Sauvignons can age well. Screwcaps have, of course, moved the goalposts. Still very pale and no less fresh, with light floral/passionfruit elements, this is a wine of extreme elegance built on a minerally, citrus-nuanced framework. 13% alc/vol."

'From one of New Zealand's finest producers, this is about as good as Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc gets. They haven't messed around with oak or malolactic or other technical frills; this is the pure sauvignon blanc flavour the world has come to know and love. There are some confectionery and faintly yeasty aromas over kiwi fruit, gooseberry and lightly tropical aromas, while in the mouth it has more depth and concentration than most. It's crisp and alive; juicy and well balanced, with delicious texture and mouth-feel. Fine, fragrant and invigorating. Drink young.' Huon Hooke - Wine of the week in Sydney Morning Herald Nov 08
'Pale lemon green. This is straight Sauvignon again, close to the Astrolabe achievement but not quite so magical or sweetly complex on bouquet. It is however free of the spurious odours so regrettably marked up in a recent mistaken phase of New Zealand sauvignon judging. Palate is black passionfruit, red capsicum and some sweet basil, clean, long flavoured and drier than many Marlborough examples of the grape. This attractive wine will cellar up to 10 years, if older sauvignons are enjoyed.'

"Dr. John Forrest is one of New Zealand's most knowledgeable Sauvignon Blanc makers, and it shows. A perfect partner for summer dishes with Thai inspiration, this has passionfruit, citrus and blackcurrant notes with some steely power. It tastes more complex than most, and finishes with mouth-watering zip." Ralph Kyte-Powell, Delicious Magazine
