GOLD MEDAL MELBOURNE FINALIST FOR JIMMY WATSON TROPHY 95/100 HUON HOOKE.
A recent gold medalist and a finalist for the prestigious Jimmy Watson Trophy at the 2007 Royal Melbourne Wine Show this wine is a brilliant example of super premium cool-climate shiraz at its finest. Sourced entirely from Longview’s vineyard at Macclesfield, Adelaide Hills. The fruit was hand-picked before being aged in old and new French Oak Barriques. Really ripe fruit mix, sumptuous plums, dark berries, redcurrant and dark cherry too, juicy vibrant and alive. The fragrant spicy character of this Shiraz has married well with subtle oak, building an array of toasted spices. Silky and seductive palate, this is seamless Shiraz, elegantly weighted and full of supple juicy dark berry flavour. It’s a wine to have on the table with food, beautifully balanced, stamped with finesse and purity, the super fine tannins driving long through its savoury spicy finish.
"This gem of a wine was grown on Longview's Maccelsfield vineyard in the Adelaide Hills. It has intense pepper-spice and fine French oak aromas. It's very young and a touch raw but amazingly slurpable and thoroughly delicious. Sweet, ripe, spicy cherry fruit floods the mouth, smooth as silk and almost lush. The lasting impression is of balance. It should reward cellaring for 12+ years but it's hard not to drink now." Rating 95/100 Huon Hooke Sydney Morning Herald 2007
