Deutz Marlborough was formed as the result of an historic partnership between Montana wines of Marlborough in New Zealand and Champagne Deutz in France. Deutz has more than 180 years of French heritage and has been established in New Zealand for 20 years.
This wine is a classic blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sourced from some of the coolest vineyards in Marlborough. Fruit parcels are carefully hand-harvested early in their ripening phase, to ensure the perfect balance of natural acidity is gained, with all parcels kept separate for later fermentation and blending. The wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle and rests on lees for a minimum period of two years.
The resultant wine has a full mouth feel with rounded yeast flavours on the palate and a clean acid finish. It is a classic aperitif style that also partners brilliantly with the finest oysters and seafood, whether from the Marlborough Sound or the waters of Australia.
Designed for drinking upon release, Deutz Marlborough Cuvée will nevertheless gain additional toasty nuances with careful cellaring. An outstanding aperitif, Deutz Marlborough Cuvée is also the perfect match with canapés.
