The 2008 3 Rings Shiraz could be great and the best ever of the five 3 Rings Shiraz vintages to date. Until the heat wave, the vintage was shaping up as an extraordinary vintage. The Gomersal Vineyard fared better than the other heat affected vineyards which turned ripe fruit into over-ripe stewed flavours in a matter of days.
Produced by iconic winemaker CHRIS RINGLAND, this wine is in a league of its own. Ex ROCKFORD winemaker, CHRIS RINGLAND has produced a wine of quality and finesse. Deep red with a deep garnet hue. Full bodied showing lifted black currants, ripe plum, mint, caraway seed and integrated oak. The palate is a labyrinth of ripe plums, black cherries, dark chocolate and ground coffee, with rustic overtones of cigar box and leather. Fruit complexity is finished with seamlessly layered tannin structure that is wholesomely balanced with natural defining acids. Wine will drink well for over 10+ years.
