This world renowned Barossa Shiraz is derived from 50 year old dry-grown single vineyard in Marananga, previously one of the selected vineyards for Penfolds Grange.
This stunning wine has not hit the wine press as yet but what we can say is that it is as good as previous vintages which the wine press raved about including the world's most influential wine critic Robert Parker Jr saying 'It is a big backstrapping, robust Shiraz, the likes of which cannot be produced elsewhere in the world' and James Halliday saying that it is "immensely powerful and concentrated". We happen to agree as do many many of our customers. We believe this is one of the finest Barossa Shiraz's we have ever sold and is as good as if not better than previous vintages.

Viking Wines is one of the smallest enterprises in the Barossa Valley producing premium Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. The low yields of 1 - 1.5 tonne per acre from the single 50 year old organically dry-grown Shiraz vineyard produces the super premium Grand Shiraz. Viking Wines are wines which reflect the individual special characters of the sub-region of Marananga in the Barossa Valley. They are distinctive wines with great personality.
Deep purple, displaying bouquet of rich black fruit, cassis, cinnamon and liquorice leading to a powerful full-bodied Shiraz. Blackberries, rich fruit spice, liquorice, dark chocolate, well backed up with fine soft tannins, followed by good generous lengthy finish.
Hand-crafted, open fermented, basket pressed and matured in a combination of French and American Oak, this is another benchmark wine with all the hallmarks showing the consistency of the top quality Viking produces year after year from its dry-grown 50+ year vineyard in Marananga.
This wine has great depth and is well structured to evolve over the next 4 - 6 years with cellaring potential up to 12 -15 years.
