"Lovely fragrant bouquet of summer pudding and crushed berries with a peppery edge. Juicy and light in tannins, with a supple, quaffable ripeness. Deliciously good value. Fantastic."
Decanter
"Ultimately, our judges were wowed by this Portuguese offering's blend of indigenous and international grape varieties. Winemaker João Portugal Ramos is one of Portugal's great modernisers. With the Shiraz and Trincadeira for this entry-level red still hand-picked, it's not difficult to understand why he has earned a reputation for making wines with an excellent price-to-quality ratio, and why Tagus Creek is one of the best performing Portuguese brands in the UK market."
Decanter Wine Judges
"This unusual Portuguese blend is aromatic, juicy with ripe red berries, and gently spiced. Named 'best red blend under £10' in the recent Decanter World Wine Awards."
Susy Atkins The Telegraph UK
Produced by the Alentejano's Tagus Creek, it has become the second biggest selling Portuguese brand in the UK after Mateus rosé, according to its producers.
Grapes Varieties: Shiraz and Trincadeira.
Portuguese variety Trincadeira blends brilliantly with international grape Shiraz to produce this expressive red wine. It displays wonderfully forward, sweet vibrant juicy fruit, which combines with a bit of spice and a subtle savory meatiness. This is what Tagus Creek does so well: fusing modernity with traditional character. This wine combines new world drinkability with old world character and food friendliness, to create one of today's best value red wines.
A medium bodied red wine combining red fruit characters with a pleasant spiciness. Made from a blend of Shiraz & Trincadeira grape varieties. Perfect with pasta & barbecues - or on it's own. This wine can be consumed immediately but will continue to improve in bottle for a further 12-24 months.
For more than 20 years João Portugal Ramos is linked to Portuguese wines, first as consultant oenologist of well-known wines, and since 1992 as producer. The successes achieved and awards won throughout his career have brought him national and international acclaim as one of the main figures responsible for the development of Portuguese wines during the last decades.
João Portugal Ramos has also been mentioned several times by The New York Times and elected by the German magazine Wein Gourmet as Newcomer of the Year for the range of its wines available in Germany. At the same time J. Portugal Ramos Vinhos has been considered the second best wine company, right after the mythical Penfolds from Australia.
