The wine is cherry red in colour with red hues and appears bright and clear. The nose is vibrant and fragrant displaying intense and pure varietal aromas of ripe black cherries and red currant. Spicy and earthy notes add an intriguing complexity to this wine’s bouquet. Bright and fresh flavours of ripe plum and dark charry fruits intermingle with earthy, forest floor and spicy notes. These freshly textured fruit characters wrap themselves around ripe, firm tannins which provide the palate’s framework and length. The overall impression of the wine is one of subtlety, elegance and finesse.
"Our ultimate aim is to produce wines showing all the attributes of the Adelaide Hills with complexity and great personality. We are extremely selective in the vineyard and combine new and old world winemaking techniques to ensure maximum fruit and vineyard expression."
Glenn Barry, Winemaker
4 1/2 STAR RATED WINERY!
Our wines are made with fruit purity and elegance foremost in mind. Each vintage we strive to produce intensely flavoured and finely structured wine – wines that profile the best of the Adelaide Hills cool climate, great aspects and free draining soils.

Starvedog Lane came into existence as part of a joint venture with John and Helen Edwards of Ravenswood Lane, who had established 28 ha of vineyards in 1993. Part of that production was sold to the joint venture for the Starvedog Lane brand, part reserved for release under the Ravenswood Lane brand, which morphed into The Lane (see separate entry). Confusing, but the situation is now much simpler, as the Edwards and Hardys have severed all commercial ties. The Starvedog Lane brand is wholly owned by Accolade and relies on contract-grown grapes from growers in the Adelaide Hills.
