Tasting Notes:

The deepest and darkest pitch-black with a charcoal lilac hue. Lively, rich raspberry and blackberry pie aromas and blackcurrant; followed by a must and leathery finish. A "fruit bomb" of flavour, spicy clover, ginger and nutmeg; medicinal cedar and tobacco, followed by a must and leather finish. Medium to full bodied, soft tannins integrate well with great balance and a long green peppercorn finish.

Technical:

The 2013 vintage had two brief heat spikes prior to the beginning of March compressed the vintage, with all varieties ripening hot on the heels of each other. "Best ever" fruit composition was supported well by vine and fruit condition, which was nonetheless excellent. The vintage followed the excellent 2012 vintage.

"Some forward-development in the deep colour here, with a briary, earthy and leafy bouquet which reflects some less than fully-ripe fruit. It's fruity and simple, again earthy leafy and slightly raspberry-ish, the tannins light and yet quite firm. Stalky, tomato-bush aromas grew as it aired."
