Tasting Notes:

The Moonbark Estate 2010 Merlot is a true-to-variety wine. The colour isn't deep, but the retention of a youthful hue is good, and the palate is as powerful as you could possibly expect; here plum is the cornerstone, but has sufficient black olive/savoury notes to give it varietal integrity. medium-bodied, it has cassis and black olive flavours, a hint of sweet spices supported by fine tannins. Another example of a truly delightful Merlot, try it now, you will not be disappointed.

Technical:

This small family-owned and operated vineyard is located on a 17.1ha property in the Pyrenees region. Rod Chivers and his family have slowly established their vineyard with 1ha of shiraz, 0.5ha of merlot and 0.25ha of cabernet sauvignon planted on the red clay soils intermingled with quartz typical of the region. Established in 1998 there are only 500 cases produced in total.
