Tasting Notes:

Dark red to black in the glass, the nose is rich with notes of plum and liquorice which flow through to the palate with soft mouth feel and delicate oak integration. The palate is balanced and rich with a smorgasbord of spices... cinnamon, fennel, black pepper, cardamom with a real fleshy mouth full of plums.

Concentrated Cassis

"Intense nose of blackcurrent with cinnamon spice overtones. The nose also shows vinous youth. The palate shows excellent fruits on the middle repeating the cassis on the nose. There is youthful acidity and fine, soft tannins. The wine has a great future ahead of it. Should improve for 3-5 years and hold for several after that. Drinks well now with better to come."

Tony from Melbourne, Member Since 2012

Very pleasant drink

"We love Shiraz and with the Barossa 2012 vintage rating highly we decided to try this offering and have not been disappointed. The wine meets all expectations for this variety and has been favorably commented on by guests when shared over dinner. We have now consumed our first order and are eagerly awaiting our second."

David from Brisbane, Member Since 2011

Technical:

The wine completed the primary ferment in open fermenters and completed the secondary fermentation in Stainless Steel. The wine had a lot of natural tannin and hence we approached the oak very carefully. Maturation was completed with a short sharp hit of American oak to add some additional texture and complexity. Again being very careful not to over oak the wine. After a wet winter and spring the substantial ground water fed lush grape canopies. Bud burst through to veraison occurred easily and early. Mild summer conditions, with a few scattered heat spikes and cool nights helped develop wonderful flavours and colour with great varietal expression. In the winery the fruit showed high natural tannin levels so we opted for long ferments and minimal oak treatment.

Accolades & Awards:

James Halliday - Australian Wine Companion

"Said to be from a single, ancient vineyard; it is light- to medium-bodied, with fresh red and black fruits to the fore."

Wine Spectator Magazine

"Silky and bright, with red berry and floral flavors on a sleek frame."

Huon Hooke

"Deep red/purple colour. Meaty, reductive and plummy aromas - blood plums, fruit-driven, bright and youthful. Medium-bodied at most, but it has some firm edgy tannins giving the finish quite a grippy sensation."
