Tasting Notes:

Excellent colour of deep violet with purple hues. The nose has rich aromas of plum, dark cherries and liquorice with pronounced characters of chocolate and spice. The palate is medium to full bodied, with rich persistent flavour; fine tannins a creamy texture and lingering chocolate oak characters.

Technical:

The 2013 vintage was absolutely stunning for both whites and reds in South Australia generally. The growing season was consistent across the major regions with a longer growing seasom without any maor heat wave conditions. The gradual ripening produced high quality, flavoursome fruit, with lovely soft tannins, especially for Shiraz. The wine competed a primary ferment in open fermenters and completed the secondary fermentation in stainless steel. The wine had a lot of natural tannin and hence we approached the oak very carefully. Maturation was completed witha short sharp hit of American oak to add some additional texture and complexity. Again being very careful not to over oak the wine.
