  •  5 RED STARS WINERY JAMES HALLIDAY WINE COMPANION 2015

Specifications:
Vintage: 2012
Source/Region:

SOUTH EASTERN AUSTRALIA

Grape Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
Cellaring: Drink Now or cellar for 1-5 Years
Bottle Top: Stelvin
Alcohol Content: 13.50
Standard Drinks: 8.00
Rating: 92
Tasting Notes:

Deep red with crimson hues. Aromas of fragrant cassis, plum and chocolate with earthy cedar oak undertones. The palate of prominent ripe plums and licorice combined with fine grain tannins and well integrated cedar oak result in a mouth filling wine that leaves lingering sweet fruit flavours.

Technical:

Moderate rainfall in spring and early summer followed by mild summer temperatures with cooler than usual evenings leading up to the harvest, resulted in some of the best flavour seen for many years.

Good natural acidity and a long ripening period combined with lower yields saw great varietal flavours. Fruit was selected by the winemaker and picked when both flavour and baum were optimum.

Accolades & Awards:

FIVE RED STAR WINERY

(JAMES HALLIDAY WINE COMPANION 15)

92 POINTS CAMPBELL MATTINSON THE WINE FRONT  JUNE 2013

“The Deen reds are all good but this Vat 9 cabernet is the biscuit, as they say. This far out shines its asking price. Curranty fruit highlights of violets,  excellent balance a sure line of acidity and firmish mouth puckering tannin. Textbook early drinking cabernet. You could even cellar it medium term if you so desired.”

KERRY SKINNER ILLAWARRA MERCURY JULY 2013

“This surely is one of the best good value reds. Lip smacking plum and black fruit  chocolate characters tannins and a good match with roast lamb.”
