Tasting Notes:

Dark cherry red with vibrant garnet hues. Sour cherries and sweet berries with a hint of forest floor aromas. Classic fruit-forward characters of strawberry and cherry on the palate in harmony with subtle spice and game-like qualities. This combined with fine grained tannins providing texture and length to this wine.

Technical:

Moderate rainfall in spring and early summer followed by mild summer temperatures with cooler than usual evenings leading up to the harvest resulted in some of the best flavour seen for many years in the Riverina. The Yarra Valley harvest started early, by late February and into March, many varieties reached ripeness together resulting in a period of intense activity in vineyards and wineries which went on for some weeks. Good natural acidity and a long ripening period combined with yields being slightly down saw great varietal flavours in both regions.
