This is all it is made up to be and more, much more!
"A complex, floral bouquet with vibrant black fruits and peppermint. Very sweet and seductive. Smooth and sensual with velvety minty fruit.”
Judges’ comments on awarding a Gold Medal at the International Wine Challenge.
To back this up this wine has also been awarded at the Decanter Wine Show in London, New Zealand International Wine Showm and Cairns Wine Show for its exceptional quality again backing up its Gold Medal and reaffirming my thoughts that this could be one of the best Shiraz at its price point available anywhere in the world!
This award winning Barossa Shiraz is deep black in colour with a delicate red hue. Dark berry fruits with earthy notes and toasted oak. It is a chunky old style with big, sweet cherry and blackberry aromas showing olive and liquorice notes. Huge, sweet palate with layers of fruit, alcohol and tannins.
Sourced from two vineyards in the heart of the Barossa between Nuriootpa and Tanunda the wine was fermented in small open top fermenters to retain concentrated fruit flavours. To complete the fermentation process and maturation the wine went into mostly new American oak barrels for a period of 12 months. The use of American oak allowed toasted oak characters to infiltrate the highly concentrated fruit flavour creating a well-balanced yet complex tannin structure. Will reward cellaring.
Drinking magnificently now, but will reward 5 years cellaring to
develop more complexity.
