Deep cherry red. Aromas fresh lifted mulberry / raspberry fruit and light mocha aromatic is nicely weighted by subtle oak. Medium bodied palate with fresh, crisp acidity and nice length of fruit. Persistent finish with long fruity after taste.
Our grapes are sourced from our vineyards in the Adelaide wine region, with this wine using Shiraz from the Langhorne and Currency Creek wine regions combined with a smaller McLaren Vale component. These wines show the finer strengths of our vineyards with emphasis on freshness and fruit flavours with complexity derived from modern winemaking techniques. The 2012 vintage was excellent in all our regions with excellent ripeness and acidity. Clarence Hill Wines made are elegant and capture classic varietal notes - they are 'Naturally Blessed Vineyards.'
Clarence Hill Wines was founded by Clarence W.T. Rivers, who had tended vines on this property until the early 1960's perched on top of a prized hill - for which our wine is named. Adelaide Winemakers extensive vineyard resources are used to create wines of style, interest and character that drink well and offer some reward for those who cellar.
90 Point Rated James Halliday Wine Companion
"The Adelaide Zone is the most schizophrenic in the Australian GI system, its three regions ranging from hot (Adelaide Plains), to intermediate (Clare Valley) to cool (Adelaide Hills). The wine itself is a surprise, with an unexpected degree of elegance to its spicy red fruits. It's not a great wine, but great value."
