Tasting Notes:

The wine has intensity and finesse. It also comes from an outstanding vintage, bursting with ripe violet flavours with a vanilla edge. Perfect balance between black currant flavours and spice give it a moreish feel. Round, pleasant and elegant wine, with an interesting length. Fleshy, well-balanced with melted tannins.

Technical:

Chateau Grand Champs produces elegant and sophisticated wines and is located on the edge of Bordeaux's famous Saint Emilion Grand Cru appellation. Traditional Bordeaux vinification in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Ageing in Undergrounded Vats with Staves. Grape Varieties: Merlot (90%), Cabernet Franc (10%)

Rated 4 out of 5 by Hamish from Nice light French wine This is a very reasonably priced Bordeaux which makes a very pleasant change from New world wines. Whilst it tastes a bit lighter than Australian wines it is long on the palate with very pleasant berry and vanilla.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TonyC from Grand Champs Bordeaux 2011 Disappears at fast rate This red was purchased in May through Get Wines Direct and has been an easy and enjoyable wine to drink. As a frequent Australian shiraz drinker I found the lighter 90% merlot, 10% cabernet franc mix facilitative for a relaxing afternoon / evening drink before and with a meal.. My dozen has disappeared quite quickly. I've enjoyed it with a baked vegetable quiche and tropical salad.

Rated 4 out of 5 by IM in Perth from Good value - basic Bordeaux Don't expect a Mouton or Lafite - but a very good value for money wine - and don't be put off by the lesser acclaimed 2011 vintage. Its a good, basic Bordeaux - excellent as a 'cellar saver'. It won't improve, so drink in the next year or so. Classic lighter style 'fruity froggie' with unmistakable Bordeaux style and tannins - well balanced - but no more than an enjoyable every day drinking wine - which is what you'd expect for the exceptional price. So don't compare with a big aussie Cab or Shiraz - I've bought over 3 cases - consumed more than two cases so far.
