Tasting Notes:

Deep black with a squid ink hue. Aroma of subtle and sophisticated spice, cassis, crushed tobacco leaf, bay leaf, cedar and vanilla. Fine and generous mouthfeel, with predominate jam characters, vanilla and boysenberry; hints of toast and dark chocolates complement this full bodied, well balanced and surprisingly powerful tasting wine.

Technical:

The Barossa Valley confronted one of the earliest and smallest vintages in 2013, but quality was outstanding. Dry conditions, coupled with warm to hot weather and variable yield levels forced the growers to manage their blocks carefully, especially with regards to soil moisture and subsequent irrigation. Rainfall in 2012 was the fifth driest on record. A cooler than average January followed by a warm February hastened the ripping process in the vineyard, leading to an early harvest. Despite low yields, quality is strong across the board with reds showing intense flavours, good colour and firm tannins.

eRobertParker.com #219 - Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW

"Medium to deep garnet-purple, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon offers notes of crushed blackberries and blueberries with a cedar and spice-laced undercurrent. Medium-bodied, it neither excites nor offends, but delivers a straight up and down Aussie Cabernet of pleasant fruit expression and harmony."
